LASTING POWERS OF ATTORNEY
The law in relation to what were previously known as Enduring Powers of Attorney changed last October.
There are now two different types of what are known as Lasting Powers of Attorney. According to the needs of the parties there can either be a Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney or a Personal Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney.
A Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney gives your Attorney authority to make decisions over your property and affairs as and when you lose the ability to make decisions for yourself. This can include dealing with your financial affairs and selling and/or buying your property, subject to any limitations you may chose to impose.
A Personal Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney allows your Attorney to make decisions on your personal welfare, such as where you will live and provide consent to your medical treatment.
We can assist you in completing the necessary forms, obtaining the certificate of capacity required to validate the LPA and registering the same at the Office of the Public Guardian.
