It is not uncommon for parties who are in business together, initially sharing a vision on how they wish to conduct their business, only to later discover differences in opinion as to how the business should be run. In addition, co-owners of a business may disagree on fundamental issues to the detriment of the business and its employees.
When these situations occur, it is important to seek effective advice on your rights and obligations with regards to the business, for example if there is a legal avenue to eject a fellow Director or Partner and carry on the business separately or, if you wish to extricate yourself from the business. It is important to be aware of your rights to compensation and/or remuneration for you leaving the business and giving up your rights as a Partner, Director or Shareholder.
