Employment Disputes

Leon Kaye Solicitors are able to offer effective legal services and advice when you face a problem or have a dispute in the workplace. Employment disputes are as varied as the nature of the workplace itself.  Disputes can be related to objective issues such as your wages and how you perform your job, or more subjective areas for concern such as relationships with your colleagues and your line manager.

Your employment dispute could also concern your selection for redundancy, an unfair reason for dismissal or being subjected to unfair treatment because you raised a complaint.  You may also feel that you are being discriminated against, harassed or victimised due to your race, sex, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion or beliefs.  Whatever the nature of your dispute, we’ll work on your behalf to ensure your rights are protected and make sure you’re compensated where your employer has breached those rights.

First Steps

Employment disputes can be sensitive and you may be wary of enforcing your rights or being seen to accuse people that you may have to continue to work with.  However, once a complaint is made it is vital that you stick with it, so it’s essential that you obtain proper advice in order to decide on the best course of action.

Prior to making a complaint, make sure you read your contract of employment and staff manual carefully.  These should set out your obligations and those of your employer.  If you don’t have access to anything in writing, ask your line manager or human resources department if there is any policy in place for you to consider.  It’s always best to exhaust whatever internal procedures may be in place first, but if in doubt, please consult us.  We will advise you on the best options available to you in your unique circumstance

It is understandable that employment disputes can be sensitive, but sometimes an outside party can ask the awkward questions.  Our team has a wealth of experience in advising on all types of complaints and is used to dealing with all kinds of employer, from sole traders to large public companies.  We’re here to assist and support you with your everyday employment law needs.
